Bright City Home

Yesterday marked my two year anniversary in New York City! Having my very own key to Manhattan is so special and an experience that I am forever grateful for. Decorating has always been something I love and it's fun to have a space that is a complete reflection of my personal style. With that in mind, I wanted to remain thoughtful in my decorating process while maintaining a bright city budget. Here are a few of the little ways that I accomplished this:

1. Create a functional space
Finding new uses for items I already owned, definitely helped me to stay within budget. My statement mirror now has a home between two windows, making the room seem much larger. In addition, I placed a silver tray on top of my chest, so that it could function as both storage and a coffee table.

2. Take your time
Although it's ideal to have everything right when you move in, the items I truly wanted were worth the wait. I continually checked my favorite sites (Wayfair, Overstock, and West Elm) for sales and events. Better yet, all of them were delivered right to my door - win, win in my book!

3. It's all in the details
I added touches here and there that reflect my personal style, which ensured it was a cozy spot and escape from the every day hustle. My favorite coffee table books, plush blanket, fuzzy pillows and framed photographs fill the space making it welcoming for visiting guests or for cozy nights in.

I am so happy with how my little dovecote has turned out, so far! In the end it is my very own bright city home. What more could one ask for? xx
