My Wish for You

Happy New Year's Eve! I hope that within the coming year, you find the strength to reach out of your comfort zone a few more times than usual and follow the dreams you have deep down in your heart. You never know what absolutely wonderful things could come from those little steps of courage. Over the past year, I have followed my heart and taken chances based on what my passions and dreams are. Looking back, I would do it all over again, ten (twenty, thirty...) times over. Wishing you all a wonderful, bright, and safe New Year's with your loved ones. Thank you to my sweet friends and dear family for all of their support and to you for following along in the past year. It means more than you may ever know. xx

Home for the Holidays

When I am home for the holidays, cozy pajamas are the first items packed in my bag. What I look forward to the most are evenings spent with my family by the fire, music playing and drinks in hand. Especially during the holidays, there is no place I would rather be. I do love to get dressed up, so a fun skirt or dress is thrown in, making the perfect look for Christmas Eve and Boxing Day. Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday this week! xx

Winter Pop

The temperatures have been unseasonably warm over the past two weeks here in New York City - I am pretty sure it has been the same for most across the country. Of course, I always have dreams for a white Christmas, but in no way is this girl complaining. It is a nice little refresh from the usual frigid temperatures! In addition, now is the perfect time for breaking out my white denim and light booties to embrace the weather. A (big) pop of red for the holidays is quite the fun addition, as well! I hope this little outfit will serve as bright inspiration for your weekend! I am also loving this vest to recreate the look if a coat is a bit too warm still. xx

Christmas in NYC

Image
This is my first holiday season spent living in New York City. Every December, my family and I make a trip into the city, but living here and experiencing the holiday season every day is more magical than imagined. Decorations and sparkly lights are strung on every tree, Christmas wreath stands at each street corner, festive music in all cafes and restaurants. I always have an ongoing to do list, but it has extended quite a bit with all of the fun during this time of year. Here are a few of the things currently on my list! My mom and I did some holiday shopping this weekend and managed to cross off quite a few, including a trip for sweet treats at Laduree. If you have suggestions to add to my list, I would love to hear. xx
1. Tea at the Plaza Hotel
2. Coffee and stroll through Central Park
3. Visit the tree in Rockefeller Center
4. Department store window displays on Fifth Avenue
5. Rolf's Bar for a festive drink
6. Holiday shopping on Madison Avenue
7. Ice-skating in Bryant Park
8. Hot Cocoa and macaroons at Laduree

Gifts Under $100

If I am having troubles finding the perfect gift for a friend or loved one, my general rule of thumb is to look for something they may not always treat themselves to. Those "just because" items. A pair of cozy pajamas, set of lipstick's to add to your best girlfriend's ongoing collection, or monogrammed goodies for their desk and keys. Here is a roundup of some of my favorites - all under $100. A personal gift at any cost can be just as special and sweet. xx

A Glam Occasion

It should be no surprise that one reasion I love this time of year, is because it's the perfect excuse to get fancy! Cocktail parties and soiree's are in full force - I wouldn't have it any other way. Adding a bit of glam is always fun! I am loving this bold lipstick, these faux fur gloves, and ultra chic black dress. A plaid skirt and cashmere sweater paired with fun heels makes a work outfit for day to night. I hope this collage brings you a bit of bright inspiration for the coming weeks! xx

Hostess Gifts

With Thanksgiving in just a few short days and the rest of the holiday season vastly approaching, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a hostess gift list! To be honest, the above would make the perfect gift for your mother, best friend, or stocking stuffer. I am loving this pillow from Jonathan Adler and these coasters would seriously brighten up any apartment! This tray from Waiting on Martha is absolutely adorable and these wine glasses are ideal for newlyweds. I also believe a handwritten note goes a long away, so including something personal with a few thankful words is just as sweet - pop, fizz, clink! xx

Winter Wishlist

Here are a few of the things I currently have my eye on for the Winter season. A little suede skirt is a cute option for Thanksgiving dinner. I just purchased this coat and can't wait to start wearing it! These booties are exactly what I have been looking for and the price is even more ideal. I love this sweater dress and the cream vest has been on constant repeat lately - it layers perfectly with a belt over my skinny denim. What have you been loving lately? xx

Holiday Travel Style

With the holidays around the corner and fun trips on my schedule this month and next, I have pulled together an ideal packing list. I find it best to pack all of my favorite basics and staples. This way I have the solid building block for an outfit and can throw in fun accessories to dress it up in different ways throughout the trip. This weekend I am heading south to visit my brother in D.C. Although it will be a bit warmer, the items above serve as the perfect layering pieces for now and later in the holiday season. It's such a special treat to hop on a train and no longer take a plane to see family. Truly is the little things that make a difference! xx

Off To The Vineyard

Tomorrow, I am heading up to Syracuse for a weekend of wine tasting in the Finger Lakes. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here in New York, but I am excited to enjoy the season for a few days outside of the city. It will definitely be chillier, so I have my favorite layers packed. My tissue turtlenecks and cozy faux fur vest will surely make their way up to the vineyard with me! All will be packed in my trusty duffle from Sole Society - still one of my favorite purchases from last year. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my lovely love's! xx

Draper James

After spending the weekend in Nashville, I could not help but get excited about Reese Witherspoon's new line officially opening their doors and store front. I will be heading back there in March for a bachelorette party and think we will need to pop in! Reese's classic and preppy style has always been one that I have found myself pinning countless time to style boards. She has such a chic look and I simply can't stop searching through the website at all of the cute stationary, dresses and hostess gifts - perfect, especially with the upcoming holidays! If you haven't yet, check out the website - I know you'll love all the little goodies featured as much as I do! xx

Currently Adoring

Let's be honest, staple pieces are my absolute favorite. I am loving this leather belt, thick cashmere scarf and the hat is simply to die for! These boots are so chic and the price can't be beat. This bag was perfect for the wedding I attended last weekend in Nashville and have worn the J.Crew vest as an extra layer practically every day. Don't even get me started on these lace flats - simply stunning. What are you currently adoring?

Decor Updates

With new seasons and wardrobe updates, I can't help but think about refreshing a few things in my apartment. This faux fur blanket is at the top of my list - I am already imagining curling up under it with a good book and hot cocoa on a chilly evening! The Trish McEvoy lotion smells absolutely divine and they make the same scent as a candle. Fun glasses for when playing hostess, and the most darling address book. How cute is this tray for the coffee table? I think this little dish has the right idea - perfect reminder to treat yourself! What have you been eyeing lately for your living space?

P.S. The Shopbop Friends & Family Sale starts today, with code INTHEFAM25. It's the perfect time to pick up some of your favorite Fall essentials, including a pair of flared denim, this vest and shift dress. xx

8 Classic Fall Coats

One of my favorite parts about Fall is layering on cozy sweaters, scarves and jackets. As the weather gets chillier, I automatically feel more put together with a classic coat. I thought it would be fun to round up my current favorites at different price points. A timeless trench is always at the top of my list - this one is super chic (the Burberry is still on my wish list!) and for a fraction of a designer's cost. I am also loving the pastel cocoon coat from J.Crew and this fun cape has my name written all over it. Remember to size accordingly based on the layers you may be wearing underneath, especially as the weather begins to get cooler. xx

Early Mornings

Sweatshirt: Rebecca Minkoff | Earrings: Shopbop | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Vest: J.Crew
Leggings: Nike | Kicks: Nike | Tote: (Similar here)

I recently stumbled across this quote on Pinterest and could not have put things into better words. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend, is get up early and explore my neighborhood before everyone else is out. Even better, it gives me the perfect excuse to put on my favorite workout leggings, cozy sweater, and kicks. There is something so peaceful about the quiet streets and getting your errands or workout in early. It really is as if time is paused - "just you, the world and the sunrise." xx

Fall Wishlist

This will be my first Fall spent living in New York City! To get through the next few months, I have pulled a list together of staple pieces that will make mixing and matching my current wardrobe that much easier. J.Crew, Nordstrom and Shopbop are my some of my favorite places to shop. I am picturing a faux leather skirt like this one as the perfect addition for date night or getting dressed up with my girlfriends - a little added sass to your look never hurts! I wore these flats constantly throughout the Summer and just purchased them in a dark cognac color. Olivia Palermo's collaboration with Ciate has me convinced that it is the perfect polish for the new season. And just because it's Fall doesn't mean we have to let go of lighter color - I love the idea of pairing a pastel jacket with flared denim or fringe booties. What is on your wish list? xx

Denim Vest

Denim Vest: Madewell | Dress: J.Crew (similar here and here) | Wedges: Nine West | Earrings: Shopbop

This little denim vest has been worn countless times since purchasing. With Fall weather beginning to make an appearance, layering will be key. I love that this vest instantly gives my stripe dress a different feel. Almost like a preppy-trendy look? Not sure that's even a thing, but we will just go with it! I have also paired the vest with white denim and think it will look cute over a turtleneck tunic (like this one) as the days get chillier. Wishing you all a wonderful Thursday! xx

Working Girl Basics

Whether you are starting an internship, new job, or simply in need of a little refresh, these are at the top of my list for building a working girl wardrobe. Each item is timeless and can be mixed and matched. It's hard for me to justify purchasing items just for work, so I try to consider how else pieces can be styled. A little black dress is definitely a staple no matter what and classic black heels can be worn during evenings out. My trusty ballet flats, cardigan sweater, and scarf are on repeat throughout the weekends. Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through with a fun nail color, jewelry or sunnies. And remember, the best outfit a girl can own is confidence. xx
