Chicago Weekend Trip

Denim Jacket | Tank | Sunnies | White Denim | Sneakers | Pashmina Scarf | Duffle Bag (originally styled here) | Cosmetic Bag

Tomorrow, I am  heading to Chicago for the first time since moving back East - I am so looking forward to being with all of my girlfriends again! I plan on packing some easy and breezy pieces that can be mixed and layered for brunch, dinner and drinks. As for travel style, my go-to is a denim jacket (I have worn this one almost every day since purchasing it) and white jeans. They are the perfect staple pieces to be matched with other items I bring along. I may pack this trench coat too, as you can never be over prepared for the weather in the windy city! Last but not least, I can't forget an (extra large) cosmetic bag. Although I like to tell myself I have mastered packing, I am still struggling to limit the amount of makeup, lotions and potions I bring - oops! Happy Thursday! xx

Beach Daze

This weekend has been absolutely beautiful in Connecticut! I feel so fortunate since moving back East. It has allowed me to see my family during long weekends, special days and celebrations I haven't always been able to make it to before, or just because (simply the best feeling!) During the warmer months, the majority of our time is spent outside, so the sunny weather made me extra excited for the coming Summer season. Whether it is days spent soaking up some rays or evening dinners by the water, here are the things that are currently catching my eye! xx

Memorial Day Weekend

Hat: J.Crew | Beach Dress: Tory Burch (also love this one and this) | Turkish Beach Towel: Madewell | Bathing Suit: Marysia (like this one too) | Straw Bag: Mar Y Sol | Sandals: Jack Rogers

This holiday weekend I am heading out of the city to spend it with my family in Connecticut - I simply can't wait! I plan on bringing the basics: stripes (of course), white denim that can be easily dressed up for evening dinners, sandals, my favorite straw bag, and am being extra optimistic that the weather will permit a few beach days! I have a sneaky feeling the above will be my go-to beach look in the coming months. Can't you just feel the days are getting closer and closer to sipping fruity drinks out of fun straws - preferably flamingo ones like those above? Wishing all of you a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend! xx

P.S. If your in the need of a little inspiration for your packing list, J.Crew just added a ton of goodies to their site. Better yet, mostly everything is 25% off with code SUMMERLOVE (30% off with your J.Crew card.) Talk about Summer lovin'.

Bright City Lately

This little setup at Joie that my sweet mom and I came across while shopping on Mother's Day, Sunday.

This girl loves her fresh flowers, but I am pretty sure this version of Dianthus are a new favorite - so fuzzy and cute!

Weeknight runs through Central Park - I think that this has become my second home in the city. There is something so special about it that you just can't put into words.

Coffee and brunch at one of my favorite spots in the city, Sarabeth's!

A cozy little corner in my apartment to fall asleep and wake up to.

Extra pretty exteriors in my neighborhood.

It's been a bit quiet on this little blog over the past few weeks, so I wanted to share a few of the things on my Instagram that have been bringing me inspiration recently. Whether it's fresh blooms from the corner flower stand, a cappuccino in a cozy cafĂ©, or the pretty window displays in my neighborhood, all contribute to defining what I like, love and adore with my personal style. What are some of the things that have been bringing you inspiration lately? xx

Homemade Maple Granola

1/4 cup flaxseeds
6 cups old-fashioned oats
2 cups raw sliced almonds
1 cup pumpkin seeds(not roasted)
1/2 cup sunflower seeds (not roasted)
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 maple syrup
(Makes about 10 cups)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2.Stir flax seeds, oats, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, oil, and syrup in a large bowl.
3. Spread mixture evenly in 2 large shallow baking pans and bake in upper and lower thirds of oven for thirty minutes, or until golden brown.
4. Stir halfway through baking.
4. Cool granola completely while still on pans.

One of my favorite things to do with my mom is cook and learn new recipe's. Since I was a little girl, she has always inspired me to make things from scratch. The idea of something being fresh, rather than store bought is just that much better (and healthier!) This recipe is one of my current favorite's that she has shared with me. The granola can be kept in at room temperature for a week, or frozen up to one month. I especially love this because you can make a large batch ahead of time and then have a snack ready for any time of the day. Even better, bring it to work, mix in some oatmeal, berries, and your in heaven - trust me. Have a wonderful mother's day weekend, my love's! xx

For Her

Picture Frame: Shopbop | Clutch: Kate Spade | Cosmetic Case: Tory Burch | Necklace: Baublebar | Lip Gloss: Trish McEvoy (love this for Summer because it has SPF!) | Book: Tory Burch | Wedges: Cusp | Candles: Joe Malone

Happy Cinco De Mayo! I hope you have some fun plans for the evening - it's been absolutely gorgeous weather here in New York City, so I am looking forward to some patio dining tonight after work! Here is a little inspiration for the sweet ladies in our lives. Whether it is your mother, grandmother, or other loved one that you are celebrating on May 10, I find getting something that she would not necessarily buy for herself is the best! Little luxuries like a new lipstick, fun clutch for Summer nights or home accessory are ideal. I love personalizing my gifts with a handwritten note and picture of a fun memory together from year's past. It just makes everything that much more special! xx
