Making A List

One of my favorite things about this time of year are the little surprises planned for family and dear friends. I love coming up with ideas to make the holidays that more special and unique. These monogram makeup bags are so personal. I use them every day and love that they come in a combination of two. This candle simply smells heavenly and is a perfect stocking stuffer! It's funny how wish lists change as we get older, because I can't get this cute cookware out of my head! Lastly, how cozy are these fuzzy slippers and silk pajamas? Love, love, love! What's on your list? xx

Holidays Activities in NYC

This time of year has always been my absolute favorite, especially in New York City. There are countless things to do, see and eat! It doesn't take much for me to get in the holiday spirit, but here are a few things that are making it that much sweeter:

1. Get fresh hot chocolate, play tourist and walk around Rockefeller Center.
2. Splurge on one (or two) of my favorite holiday candles.
3. Bundle up and go ice-skating in Bryant Park.
4. Send holiday cards to loved ones & friends.
5. Dress up and head to the Plaza Hotel for afternoon tea.
6. Master my tiny kitchen and bake Christmas cookies.

Just in time for your turkey dinner (and yummy desserts) here are a few little things that I think any hostess would love to receive! This candle is my absolute favorite during the holiday season. These cute cheese knives would be the perfect addition to some pre-dinner cocktails and this blanket? How divine! xx

Decor Favorites

After living in a city for the past ten years, decorating small spaces has certainly become the norm. I have learned to embrace the challenge and find something special about making a tiny spot a reflection of my personal style. Keeping things simple and sweet is my motto. With that said, there are a few things that help to make my apartment feel more like home. I am obsessed with my faux fur blanket, perfect for added texture and cozy evenings in. This tray doubles as a coffee table and I have always loved this fuzzy pillow for the couch or lucite chair. It's amazing how when small details come together, they create a perfect place in the great, big city. xx

Fall Wish List

With the start of a new season, I always look for a few key pieces to add in my wardrobe. Along with my favorite basics, like this leather jacket, cashmere sweater and high waisted jeans, there are some other items I would love to throw into the mix. I have my eye on this little moto jacket, suede coat and these leather pants. Another must for me this Fall, is this simple J.Crew bodysuit. It's perfect paired with a high-waisted midi skirt or your favorite black denim. Done and done! What are you loving for Fall? xx

Upper East Side

Restaurants: Uva, Calexico, Beyoglu
Workout: Exhale (I love their barre classes!) and Y7 Studio
Pampering: Heyday

Friends and family always ask when the best time to visit New York City is. There is something about Fall, which always feels like a fresh start in the city. The hustle is back, after Summer has come to an end, but there is still a sense of freedom with the days remaining light for just a bit longer. I love my little Upper East Side neighborhood and thought it would be fun to share a few favorite spots. It's always exciting to explore and try something new - Quality Eats also just opened up and it's next on my list! Let me know if you try any of the above or have additional suggestions. xx

Now & Later

I am not ready to give up the Summer season, but am always looking for pieces that can be worn now and later. In order to maintain my city budget, I love having transitional pieces, for whenever needed. I am a true believer that white denim can be worn all year round - absolutely love it with a cozy, long cashmere cardigan! A solid black swimsuit is perfect for the beach, but also for a mid-winter getaway. This top would be ideal for a night out in both the Summer and Fall. While, this maxi is perfect for weekend brunch! Pair it now with these sandals and sneakers when the leaves start to fall. Add on a denim jacket, scarf, and voila! xx

Midsummer Nights

Can you believe it's already August? Summer seems to be flying by this year. It's been a fun filled season with travel and days spent in the sunshine, so I am certainly not complaining! One of my favorite parts of this time of year are the Summer nights. This past weekend spent on the coast, it was a bit chillier in the evenings, so I packed my little jean jacket to throw on with denim shorts. These wedges are so comfortable and I have been pairing them with outfits for both day and night. Here is a little inspiration for your evening, whether it be dinner al fresco or lobster rolls by the beach - my favorite treat! xx

Currently Adoring

Certainly wouldn't be a new season without a little wishlist, would it? Wardrobe staples like denim shorts, wedges, and summer dresses are always a welcome addition to my closet when warmer weather hits. I am loving this J.Crew topblouse and these fun earrings from Tuckernuck. My list seems to be growing as we speak, with the Nordstrom Anniversary event also beginning this Thursday. It's a bit more guilt free when your favorite retailers are having sales, right? xx

This weekend, I am heading to Austin for my sweet friends bachelorette party - I have heard the best things. These shoes and this jacket will be perfect for the flight. I have been loving silk scarves lately, because they can be worn in your hair during the day and transitioned as a layer in the evenings. I can't forget my favorite sunnies and denim shorts - Summer packing necessities! We have a few restaurants picked out downtown and a day planned on Lake Travis, but if you have any fun suggestions of other places to see, do tell! xx

Martha's Vineyard

This weekend, we are heading to Martha's Vineyard for a few days and I could not be more excited - hello, Summer vacation season! Here is a little glimpse into my packing list. With Memorial day behind us, white denim is here to stay and is always the first thing I include in my suitcase. New Arrivals

New York City took a little turn in weather last week, with a snow storm and temperatures dropping quite a bit. I am still optimistic that warm weather is near, but a pick me up from my favorite retailers is always welcome! J.Crew, Club Monaco, Revolve, and Shopbop have some of the cutest things right now. I am loving this hat, these jeans and off the shoulder blouse. It seems like the perfect time to scoop up a few items for a sunny trip I have coming up - this look is giving me so much inspiration! Investment Pieces

With Spring almost here, I am feeling ready for a little refresh with my favorite staple pieces, including a new pair of sunnies, every day bag and fun denim for the weekends. Some of my favorite places to shop for these items are; Club Monaco, Shopbop and Nordstrom. I like to invest in items that are forever classic; however, they certainly come with an extra price tag. Often, I will make a little wish list to help me define what the next purchase may be and save up for when a special milestone occurs - birthday, new apartment, or promotion. Every time I wear it, I'm reminded of the extra effort it took to get there or excitement that special moment brought. xx

Around this time of year, I begin to crave warmer weather. I like to create little lists of things to do and restaurants to try. With Winter (hopefully) winding down, I thought it would be fun to document a list of sunny travel locations: Miami, Harbour Island and Sonoma have quickly made their way to the top! Even if I can't jet set off to a destination right in this moment, it is still fun to dream about travel destinations and what I would pack! Even better a majority of the items are on sale at Shopbop with code: GOBIG17. I also have my eye on this pair of denimSpring dress and jacket. xx

Bright City Home

Yesterday marked my two year anniversary in New York City! Having my very own key to Manhattan is so special and an experience that I am forever grateful for. Decorating has always been something I love and it's fun to have a space that is a complete reflection of my personal style. With that in mind, I wanted to remain thoughtful in my decorating process while maintaining a bright city budget. Here are a few of the little ways that I accomplished this:

1. Create a functional space
Finding new uses for items I already owned, definitely helped me to stay within budget. My statement mirror now has a home between two windows, making the room seem much larger. In addition, I placed a silver tray on top of my chest, so that it could function as both storage and a coffee table.

2. Take your time
Although it's ideal to have everything right when you move in, the items I truly wanted were worth the wait. I continually checked my favorite sites (Wayfair, Overstock, and West Elm) for sales and events. Better yet, all of them were delivered right to my door - win, win in my book!

3. It's all in the details
I added touches here and there that reflect my personal style, which ensured it was a cozy spot and escape from the every day hustle. My favorite coffee table books, plush blanket, fuzzy pillows and framed photographs fill the space making it welcoming for visiting guests or for cozy nights in.

I am so happy with how my little dovecote has turned out, so far! In the end it is my very own bright city home. What more could one ask for? xx

Happy Valentine's Day! With the spirit of the holiday, I thought it would be fun to share my current beauty favorite's - the items that I come back to time and time again! This concealer, highlighter and mascara find their way into my routine each day. A few new items that I have enjoyed lately are, this moisturizer and neutral lip gloss. I have been on the search for a new lipstick for evenings out. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear! What are some of your other favorite beauty products? With Love

With Valentine's day around the corner, it's an ideal time for treating yourself to something sweetScented candles or cozy loungewear are usually the luxuries I gravitate towards first - it's the little things, right? These little flats would be the perfect addition to your evening out. I am always looking for something to hold my cards that will fit into a smaller purse - how cute is this wallet? Whatever you treat yourself to, make it something special. You deserve it! xx

Favorite NYC Restaurants

A little post on New York City restaurants that I have tried most recently and loved! If you have a trip planned to Manhattan or in need of last minute ideas, keep reading. I think you will find something everyone can enjoy, whether it be for a date night, celebration or brunch with your best girls! xx

1. Jeffrey's Grocery (West Village) Simply a fun vibe! I couldn't stop smiling while there. You'll have to try it out for yourself!

2. Gardenia (West Village) With the fun colors decorating the interior, it's the perfect brunch spot to help warm you up during a chilly morning.

3. Upland (Gramercy) The gingham table cloths, lemons decorating the walls, and bustling scene are just a few reasons why I loved it. Try the pistachio pizza - simply divine!

4. The Little Owl (West Village) My mom and I stopped here for brunch. Cute and quaint! We sat by the corner window and had the sweetest little afternoon together.

5. Charlie Bird (SoHo) A group of my best girlfriends and I came here on a Saturday evening. The 80's rap music was a fun start to our night out! Make sure you make reservations ahead of time - they offer them up to two weeks ahead of time - because it books up quickly.

6. Le Coucou (TriBeCa) I loved it from the second we entered through the thick, dark, velvet curtains. We stopped here for a drink before dinner at Mercer Kitchen. The bar is quite small, but we got there early enough to snag a cozy seat.

7. Speedy Romeo (Lower East Side) Run, don't walk. Yummy and unique options, leave you coming back for more. I also loved their appetizers and desserts. You can't seem to go wrong with anything on the menu.

Closet Refresh

During this time of year, I am ready for a little closet refresh. It seems as if something new and bright will make the cold weather disappear - wishful thinking? The above items are not only worth the investment, but pieces I would happily welcome into my closet for years to come. This dress is ideal for work; both feminine and tailored. Although this pair of denim is a bit on the pricier side, I think the style and fit would be perfect year round. I love this coat, better yet, it's on sale! And this sweater can be transitioned into early Spring. A little bit of retail therapy never hurts, especially when things can be worn throughout seasons and different occasions. What are you loving right now? xx

6 Winter Investment Pieces

Each year, budgeting finds it's way into my resolutions. A perk to my tiny apartment, is that I only have a certain amount of room to fit everything, which helps me to make thoughtful purchases. There will always be new trends; however, there are items that I revert back to each season, no matter what. My winter parka, black bag and cozy turtleneck sweaters are the first items I grab. Over the knee boots are perfect for both day and night (this pair is ideal for rain or shine) and a little (faux) fur adds the perfect amount of glam. Don't forget a cozy hat, to make your morning commutes a bit brighter. What are your staple choices during this time of year? xx
