NYC Guide: Recent Restaurants

A little post on New York City restaurants that I have tried most recently and loved! If you have a trip planned to Manhattan or in need of last minute ideas, keep reading. I think you will find something everyone can enjoy, whether it be for a date night, celebration or brunch with your best girls! xx

1. Jeffrey's Grocery (West Village) Simply a fun vibe! I couldn't stop smiling while there. You'll have to try it out for yourself!

2. Gardenia (West Village) With the fun colors decorating the interior, it's the perfect brunch spot to help warm you up during a chilly morning.

3. Upland (Gramercy) The gingham table cloths, lemons decorating the walls, and bustling scene are just a few reasons why I loved it. Try the pistachio pizza - simply divine!

4. The Little Owl (West Village) My mom and I stopped here for brunch. Cute and quaint! We sat by the corner window and had the sweetest little afternoon together.

5. Charlie Bird (SoHo) A group of my best girlfriends and I came here on a Saturday evening. The 80's rap music was a fun start to our night out! Make sure you make reservations ahead of time - they offer them up to two weeks ahead of time - because it books up quickly.

6. Le Coucou (TriBeCa) I loved it from the second we entered through the thick, dark, velvet curtains. We stopped here for a drink before dinner at Mercer Kitchen. The bar is quite small, but we got there early enough to snag a cozy seat.

7. Speedy Romeo (Lower East Side) Run, don't walk. Yummy and unique options, leave you coming back for more. I also loved their appetizers and desserts. You can't seem to go wrong with anything on the menu.

Closet Refresh

During this time of year, I am ready for a little closet refresh. It seems as if something new and bright will make the cold weather disappear - wishful thinking? The above items are not only worth the investment, but pieces I would happily welcome into my closet for years to come. This dress is ideal for work; both feminine and tailored. Although this pair of denim is a bit on the pricier side, I think the style and fit would be perfect year round. I love this coat, better yet, it's on sale! And this sweater can be transitioned into early Spring. A little bit of retail therapy never hurts, especially when things can be worn throughout seasons and different occasions. What are you loving right now? xx

6 Winter Investment Pieces

Each year, budgeting finds it's way into my resolutions. A perk to my tiny apartment, is that I only have a certain amount of room to fit everything, which helps me to make thoughtful purchases. There will always be new trends; however, there are items that I revert back to each season, no matter what. My winter parka, black bag and cozy turtleneck sweaters are the first items I grab. Over the knee boots are perfect for both day and night (this pair is ideal for rain or shine) and a little (faux) fur adds the perfect amount of glam. Don't forget a cozy hat, to make your morning commutes a bit brighter. What are your staple choices during this time of year? xx

Snow Day

This weekend, we had our first big snow. With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season coming to a close, I was more than excited to use the weather as an excuse to enjoy some cozy time inside. I finished this book on Sunday and it's the perfect way to start a new year with inspiration. I have been on a hot tea kick lately (Trader Joe's has the yummiest Mango flavor!) and love this mug from Anthropologie. In addition, I can't forget my favorite winter accessories. The first snow of the season, always proves to be my favorite. New York seemed to slow down, even if just for a moment, which reminded me how lucky I am to call this city home. xx

Hello, 2017

Happy 2017! In the past year, I learned and experienced so much. It truly was a stepping stone, that I am forever thankful for. I am not one to make resolutions, but do like to focus on lessons learned and build on them in a positive way for the next year. Here are a few - I hope they bring you bright inspiration!

1. List out priorities
2016 taught me a lot about what truly makes me happy, how to speak up for myself, and the people I should be surrounding myself with. In 2017, it will be important to take those lessons and start using them to make decisions in everything from career to personal relationships.

2. Personal wellness
This has definitely fell through the wayside lately. I eat well and exercise, but definitely need to get more sleep and slow down. Whether it's treating myself to a manicure after a tough day or staying in to cook a meal that is on my recipe list, these little moments truly make all the difference.

3. Stop overcommitting
Guilty as charged! I am definitey one who struggles with saying 'no.' If a friend asks me to join them Although, I love being a 'busy bee' it can be overwhelming to do everything and be everywhere. Admittedly so, I think this all stems from being afraid to let people down. I am learning that those who truly care, want you to be happy also.

4. Live in the moment
My favorite moments this year, were those spent alongside family and traveling with dear friends. Most of the time, my face was free of makeup, phone nowhere to be found and we were doing the simplest things - dancing to music in one of our apartments, late night dinners and walks at home down to the beach. I love a good photograph, but sometimes they aren't needed in order to truly capture a memory.

5. Just do 'you'
I want to be the best version of myself, but it can be difficult when always adding so much pressure to everything. Taking time to be grateful, feeding myself positive words of encouragement, and simply taking a step back is warranted. After all, the opportunities will forever be outside my door, and that is the most exciting part about 2017.
